The Administrative Core will be responsible for the oversight and
coordination of the MDCRC, as well as stimulate collaboration and interest
by outside scientists and scientists within the associated institutions. The
core will oversee the disbursement of information within the center, the
allocation of resources, and will provide the administrative structure
required to fulfill the goals of the Muscular Dystrophy Cooperative Research
Center.
The specific aims of the administrative core are:
1) To coordinate the activities and interactions of the Projects and
Cores through regular meetings, seminars, and correspondence.
2) To review utilization of funds and suggest cost-efficient use and
possible savings to insure the best utilization.
3) To provide oversight support and advice for the Director and
Co-director by monitoring and reporting the activities of the center.
4) To support interaction and collaboration with the scientific and lay
communities to develop relevant goals for the MDCRC within the center, as
well as the NIH Science office to develop mutual MDCRC goals for research
activity between Centers.
5) To promote the use of the core facilities among researchers
within the UW and other institutions using multiple mechanisms such
as brochures, websites, and presentations.
he Administrative Core will consist of Jeffrey Chamberlain, Center
Director, and will serve on the Executive committee; Roberta Miller who will
provide administrative assistance in financial and scientific progress
reporting, coordination and scheduling of events and center related travel,
and disbursement of center information and products for collaboration; and a
work study student to assist in maintenance of mechanisms of data
disbursement.
